Land as Commons

As a young entrepreneur in the realm of pursuing next economy enterprises (shepherding, carbon farming, wild-crafting, consulting, agroecology systems design), I can’t thank you enough for this article — we recently included it in our LIFT Economy newsletter as well. I am also newly engaging in the search for “buying” land and this article could not have come across my path at a better time. Land prices in my hometown are skyrocketing and pushing my generation (especially those that are pursuing farming /ecology careers) out — so this type of innovation is going to be important. Martin, what do you suggest as sort of “bridge technologies” if I and a collective of friends wanted to get access to land and steward it in the way you describe but the only pathway to access of this sort of long-term stewardship seems to be pooling our money and purchasing and/or finding a wealthy investor to purchase it for us?
