Heroin Users Help Us See Photos Of Addiction Differently
Aaron Goodman

Addicts are victims, in spite of what some people are commenting, because while that first injection may have been entirely their choice (and there are a lot of outside factors that put people at risk of starting drugs, so it’s arguable that the user may never have been given an actual choice) the subsequent injections are driven by a physical need for the drug. People don’t risk losing their jobs, their families, their friends, and everything that matters to them in life just because they enjoy shooting heroin or taking whatever drug it is they use, they do it because, after a certain point, they can’t see a way out of their addiction. When someone is so addicted to a drug that they’re willing to risk their life for it, then yeah, I would say that they are a victim.
