First and foremost, I am a Muslim. And it pains me how many people judged us for what somebody else did. They’re people, not a representative of Islam as whole. And there’s many Muslims out there; normal, docile, moderate Muslims. Yes, they exist. Well, I’m about to debunk one of the most absurd conclusion about my religion: Mohammed was a pedophile. I stumbled across this caricature depicting Mohammed and Aisha’ as a little girl .

For those lazy people, they’d read and probably believe this moronic conclusion. Nowadays, people kept seeing the past values are the same as now. It’s like seeing woman then and woman now are supposed to be in the kitchen regardless of their intellect levels. It’s like seeing black people were not equivalent to white people. Though some people still conform to this old values yet most of modern people are more accepting than in the past.

First, Muslims often used two sources, which is Koran itself and ‘Hadith’ (collection of Muhammad’s saying, along with his Companions). As you can see, Bukhari is one of the most prominent ‘hadith’ collector and widely accepted in Muslim world. ‘Hadith’ too was a collection of Muhammad and his Companion’s deeds; it’s a recorded narrations from vast majority of reliable people into various volume concerning what Koran may not have or elaborately said.

So here we go.

Bukhari 6: 298

The Prophet and I used to take a bath from a single pot while we were Junub. During the menses, he used to order me to put on an Izar (dress worn below the waist) and used to fondle me. While in Itikaf, he used to bring his head near me and I would wash it while I used to be in my periods (menses).

Aisha’ already menstruated during this hadith was passed, which shows that she can be considered ‘adult’ during their time. To us now, you’re still a kid even though you’re menstruated at 7 . Or 15. Therefore, we can exclude this from being a point of his action, being he wasn’t a pedophile.

Bukhari 7:62.88

The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with ‘Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death).

If Mohammed really was pedophile , why he wanted to wait three years to consummate her? It’s in my personal view, that during that time, Aisha’ was physically matured therefore Mohammed decided to consummate her. Remember, girls are rapidly grows during this term and being at that time,there were no regulators of how and what constitutes ‘adult age’ .

Koran 65:4

And those who no longer expect menstruation among your women — if you doubt, then their period is three months, and [also for] those who have not menstruated. And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they give birth. And whoever fears Allah — He will make for him of his matter ease.

This verse were taken out of context, that’s why people would jump over to the most idiotic and senseless answer: ‘Rape, marriage and divorce of pre-pubescent children were allowed’. It never explicitly said such in this verse, so we need to understand fully on what’s going on in this verse. This verse tells of waiting period before you can marry a woman who is menopause, girls who haven’t menstruated yet and pregnant women. This had nothing to do with rape and this too, was normal in their culture that time. So was slavery.

Koran 68:4

And indeed, you are of a great moral character.

Koran 33:21

There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often.

He was a Prophet after all. A man of honesty, a man of his word. A man of good deeds. Just an ideal man.

Was he married to a child? Yes.

Was he consummated her when she was 9 years old? Yes.

Was pedophile even a thing that time? No.

Pedophile is a thing since 1880's and to us, it’s a bad thing — it is a mental illness to have a desire for children. Then how can we say he was a pedophile if he doesn’t know what is ‘pedophile’? To them that time, it wasn’t an evil thing to do. That’s why we cannot apply present value to history.

If we looked at the first party that tried to inflict ‘pedophile’ term to Muhammad, those were taken theoretically. Social world is flexible, thus sometimes even a most elaborate theory would be still a theory; never a law to conform human’s behaviour permanently.
