Amidst the individuals that were affected, include Charles Schulz’s widow, who was forced to leave their hillside family home at 2a.m. when the house was engulfed in flames. Charles Schulz, creator of ‘Peanuts’, lived in this home from the early 1970s until is death in 2000. Many memories of the Schulzes life together were created in that house and now all that remains is rubble.

For a city with an airport named the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport and a logo of Snoopy flying on top of his doghouse, this loss of a beloved community figure saddens many. Fortunately, many original illustrations and memorabilia reside at the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Centre which has been unharmed.
