What Speaks To Us, Who We Are

Communication is everything. When you speak, how aware are you of your communication habits? What are you actually saying? How are you saying it? How is that message being received? This stuff is important. Because effective communication leads to better understanding. And miscommunication leads to conflict.

In entrepreneurship, communication skills is even more important, because entrepreneurs are perpetually working to communicate an idea, or a vision, to their stakeholders, whether that is investors, teammates, customers, or friends/family. If you can’t communicate effectively, you can’t lead effectively.

I struggle to evaluate my communication skills, because I there is sufficient evidence to suggest that I am a poor communicator. There is also sufficient evidence to suggest that I am an effective communicator. Most likely, I’m somewhere in between.

One of the best videos that I have watched on communication is a TED Talk by Simon Sinek. If you have 25 minutes to spare, I would highly suggest watching it.
