Day11-Enjoying the journey
That’s What We Have, Lets Love it!

Aug.15th 2016
So, why do I do what I do? Quite simply, because I enjoy it. Actually, I love it. And because I love what I’m doing so much, it gives me the energy, confidence, and persistence that is needed to not give up. Trust me, this journey has lots of really really really tough moments, but it also has those few really really special moments. And for me, those special moments outweigh all of the work, and sacrifices required to experience the good parts. This is what entrepreneurship is about, this is what life is about, enjoying the journey.
If you aren’t enjoying where you are right now, then I think something needs to change. One of two things: your mindset or your environment, or both.
With regards to mindset, something that has really helped me when I feel down, start counting your blessings. Recognize all the stuff that YOU DO have. Not the stuff you don’t have. Gratitude is at the center of this stuff, and it is extremely powerful. Why is it that so many “rich” people are unhappy and so many “poor” people are happy? I think it is gratitude.
With regards to your environment, maybe something needs to change in your environment. Maybe the lifestyle you are living isn’t the most healthy or productive environment. If not, work your best to change it. Surround yourself with positive people. People who you aspire to become. I remember my graduation speaker (and many others) saying you are the average of the 5 people you spend your most time with.
If you aren’t consistently challenged and inspired by those 5 people, consider investing in new relationships. For me, I am continuously looking for people to learn from, and try to surround myself with smart people, but frequently end up in my room, by myself.
This is something I definitely need to work on, spending time with people who I aspire to become. For me, it has been difficult, because I don’t know many entrepreneurs and it is hard to spend time with them. Either because they are so busy or because they are hard to find. Anyway, hopefully through FailUp I can find great, smart people.
