Stop it, you are embarassing yourself. It seems like not many people know how politics work. The latest example was a vote in the Senate to ratchet up sanctions on Iran — for no good reason, only to bring us closer to war. The spineless Senate — all lickspittles to the Likud and AIPAC — voted 98–2 to pass it. The two Senators who voted against the madness were: Bernie Sanders and Rand Paul. Now, how much do you think they have in common?
I suggest you look into how the Great Society was forged, how the VRA and the CRA were passed, and look to how many liberal Dems worked with diehard despicable racists to get meaningful legislation passed. And vice versa. This is called politics. You ally with anyone you can to get the job done. And let’s face it — we live in a world where the “center” means that Donald Trump, John McCain, Hillary Clinton, Chiuck Schumer, Al Franken, Kamala Harris, Orrin Hatch, Paul Ryan, Lindsay Graham, John Oliver, Trevor Noah, Rush Limbaugh, FOX, National Review, WaPo and the NYT are ALL on the same side when it comes to the MIC and America’s deadly empire — and the continued waging of endless war, funded by massive wealth extraction from the American people.
Caitlin is good people. She, like many of us, has the benefit of living outside the bubble in which you appear to dwell. The isolated, carefully maintained bubble of ignorance and blindness that prevents you from seeing that this is a matter of life and death for the planet, and we need to partner with whomever we can to try to stop it. You have been under the heel of the MIC and its political and polemical duopoly for too long, oblivious to your blindness thanks to the mad swirl of tribalism that permeates American culture.
