I remember Ramona having to wear Howie Kemp’s hand-me-down rain boots, and being mocked by mean girl Susan (she of the boing-boing curls) for doing so. I also remember Ramona’s finally getting her first pair of girl’s rain boots and refusing to abandon them when she gets stuck in the mud at school.

Whenever I wear my pink Hunter rain boots, I think of Ramona.
