About the Founder of GetMyClasses
Josh Kendrick, the founder of GetMyClasses, is a gradate of Samford University. As a freshmen, he started off his college career as a biology major with dreams to become a doctor. Slowly as the years went on, he decided that was want not what he ultimately wanted to do with his life. At that time he came to that realization, it was too late to change his major. From there he minored in business and started creating a side business called Quickwork, LLC. At the core of Quickwork, it is a system to better how maintenance problems are reported at large facilities such as hospitals and universities. Once this idea was conceived and fleshed out, he entered a competition hosted by Regions Bank with a cash prize. Josh went on to beat all the other groups for first place, $1,000 towards his business, and bragging rights.
Josh came up with the idea for Quickwork after working with Residence Life at Samford and seeing the holes in the reporting system for maintenance. He has since pitched Quickwork to Samford, a hospital in Montgomery and a real-estate company in Canada. His ingenuity did not stop there. While at Samford, he always saw an issue with the class registration system. Students wake up before 6 a.m. to web register for classes right at 6. The system has a history of crashing and students not being able to get the classes they need. He set out to fix the headache of registration.
He began teaching himself code for the computer program. Each university has a slightly different registration process, so he wrote code for Samford, UAB, and Auburn. The program is set up for students to enter in their class schedule to the GetMyClasses website and when registration comes, it will automatically register for the student. Josh’s ultimate goal is to be able to sell this program to universities and have it functioning on it’s own.
Most recently, Josh is on his third business venture and is gearing up to open escape room games called Exodus Escape Rooms in the next couple of weeks.
