There is an insane amount of insecurity to the words, “I don’t know much about that topic. I’ll have to look into it. Do you have more information on it?” However, in my personal experience, admitting my ignorance opens up a depth of conversation that will continue much longer than the utterance of a headline fun fact or the like. By recognizing who deserves the “lead” on a particular topic, each participant is afforded the opportunity to feel their worth when their strong suits pop up during the conversation.
