Have you ever wondered why most of voice systems like Apple Siri, Microsoft Cortana or Samsung’s S voice sound like women? Well, the main reason is quite simple: people are more likely to respond more positively to women’s voices. Indeed, researchers reported that both women and men find female voices warmer.
According to Standford communication professor Clifford Nass, people tend to perceive female voice as a tips providers which helps us solve our problems by ourselves, whereas male voice tell us the answers to our problems. This is why, for instance, Domino’s Pizza app has a male voice. In the future, thanks to data, cloud computing and AI improvement, companies will be able to tailor voices specifically to individuals.
