FILLiquid is proud to announce that our testnet is officially going live next week, allowing you to test our decentralized $FIL borrowing and lending platform.

Those participating in the testnet are eligible to earn $FIG airdrop rewards once the token goes live, highlighting your contribution to our protocol.

With the testnet soon to be live, this tutorial will help onboard you to the testing procedure, ensuring you have everything ready to begin testing before the launch.

The FILLiquid testnet will be hosted on the Filecoin Calibration network, a testing environment for Filecoin products.

You must ensure your wallet is connected to the Calibration network and loaded with testnet $FIL tokens before you can utilize the FILLiquid product.

For the purpose of this tutorial, we will be using MetaMask as a guide. However, the guide can easily be adjusted for all major wallets on mobile and desktop.

Connecting MetaMask to the Calibration Network

The first step in the procedure is to connect your MetaMask wallet to the Calibration network.

The easiest way to do this on MetaMask is through Chainlist.

First, head over to https://chainlist.org/. On the website, search for Filecoin and ensure that the “Include Testnets” box is checked.

This will bring up the following screenshot. We are looking for the “Filecoin — Calibration testnet” option. Once found, hit “Connect Wallet.”

This will bring up the following series of MetaMask pop-up notifications.

The first pop-up will ask you to choose a wallet to connect to the Calibration Network. Once selected, hit “Next.”

The second notification asks permission to connect your wallet to the Chainlist dApp; hit “Connect.”

The third notification requests approval to allow Chainlist to add the Calibration Network to your wallet. Hit “Approve.”

The fourth notification asks for permission to switch your wallet from the “Ethereum Mainnet” chain to the newly added “Filecoin — Calibration testnet,” Hit “Switch Network.”

Once completed, your wallet will have successfully added the Filecoin Calibration Network as an option to interact with. You will now see that your wallet has “0 TFIL.”

Next, we need to load this wallet with Testnet tokens before we can start the testnet.

Loading Testnet Wallet With Testing $FIL Tokens

Loading the wallet with $TFIL (testnet $FIL) tokens is straightforward. It involves entering your wallet address into a faucet tool to receive the free tokens.

First, we need to copy our wallet address, which can be found at the following location;

Once the address is copied, head over to the faucet website, which can be found at;

https://faucet.calibnet.chainsafe-fil.io/funds.html

Once reached, simply paste your wallet address into the textbox and hit “Send Funds.”

This will send funds from the faucet to your testnet wallet. The transaction should take around 30 seconds. Once received, your wallet will show 100 $TFIL tokens;

That’s all there is to it. Your wallet is now successfully connected to the Filecoin Calibration Testnet and is loaded with testnet tokens, ready to be used in the FILLiquid testnet.

In the following tutorial, we will cover depositing these $TFIL tokens into the FILLiquid liquidity pool to be used for lending.
