Hip Hop’s Hilary Supporters — Where Are They Now?

Telling People To Vote While Walking Back Into Celebrity Bubbles

What the Hip Hop community did when Trump won

It’s February 13th and including today, Donald Trump has been President of the United States of America for exactly 25 days. That means it’s been 24 days since we’ve heard from Jay-Z, Beyonce, Pusha T, Rae Sremmurd, 50 Cent, (it’s a long list) on anything to do with U.S. politics. It’s also the day after the Grammys which means that could easily change — what better day in the music industry to pipe up than on Grammy day?

Did anyone else notice the increase in celebrity involvement in their social media feed where it looked like someone else wrote their tweets, IG, and FB posts in the months of October and November? There was this large wave forming of Hilary Clinton followers, especially within hip hop circles. I first raised an eyebrow when I started seeing Pusha-T supporting Hilary Clinton. Especially when I saw this:

I’ll save you the trouble and let you know once Hilary lost Pusha fell off posting anything online about politics. There was one GQ article in early December which was more so a plug than anything for King Push’s new Adidas shoe (which is straight fire!) but at the end they asked, so what happens now that Hilary lost the election, to which he responded, “I need a minute.” My guy, you’ve had a good 3–4 weeks since Trump moved into the Whitehouse. You’re the President of GOOD music, KANYE WEST’S MUSIC LABEL. Is it that you can’t find the words or is it simply that shoes, fashion, and music are really what you’ve been focused on all along — which would make WAY more sense anyway.

Speaking of making sense, or lack there of:

Suffice to say this was perfect timing because “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd had just hit #1 on the Hot 100. I can’t help but think the cheering at the end of the video is more so a reaction to the question, “Are we relevant?”. Good luck trying to find political anything from Rae Sremmurd after Hilary lost though. Although, something tells me you aren’t really wondering what their (yes, Rae Sremmurd is two people) political stance is.

The same can be said about 50 Cent who openly supported Hilary in 2015 but leading up to the November 2016 election, much of what he had to talk about was around whatever he was getting paid to endorse, which was mainly Effen Vodka or the TV show he’s on called Power. The day of the November 8th election Fifty posted the video below which I guess was his way of urging people to vote, something he really didn’t do at all leading up to November 8th. He had more content online around telling people to vote for his TV show than the actual elections. Insert thinking emoji here.

This brings us to the most obvious Hilary candidates that fell off the face of the political map, Jay-Z and Beyoncé. Everyone knew they were friends with Obama so obviously they would be supporting Hilary. And so before the election:

And after the election:

Jay-Z doesn’t have time to answer Donald Trump questions, he only has time to stand on stage with Hilary Clinton. And he’s now expecting twins with his wife, they’re both still rich as fuck, and the world keeps spinning. Perhaps he’s waiting on the next Democrat candidate before he has time again?

Doesn’t this make you wonder, if Hilary won, could I write the same article? Probably! But the true question is how much did Hilary pay Jay-Z and Beyoncé of her $623M campaign budget. That is insane. Wow, I just blew my own mind while researching her campaign budget — $623 MILLION FRIGGING DOLLARS, all lost!
