We’re lucky to count these five Minnesotan companies attending the Fiber for the New Economy Conference among our FTTH Council membership. Minnesota may be cold, but these companies are coming in hot! Don’t miss the chance to meet them along with many other attendees from around the Great Lakes Region.

The entire economic development program — every session, every speaker — will concentrate on the relationship between advanced communications capabilities, economic development, and work creation. Experienced and talented presenters will provide useful, practical information that anyone can take home and put to use at once — including economic research, case histories, how-to materials, examples of what’s working and what’s not, lessons-learned, and invaluable insights.

For more information about the conference visit the Fiber for the New Economy homepage.

Calix

Calix is always thinking big — they are one of the largest communications equipment supplier focused on access, after all! Calix recently teamed up with MegaVision and Converge ICT to help bring fiber to subscribers in Indonesia and the Philippines. Calix is happy to be able to provide fiber access to all of their subscribers, near and far.

They also just unveiled their new AXOS E3–2 Intelligent PON Node. You can read about the revolutionary node’s intelligent design here. Calix’s smart innovation makes it a true world leader in the field. We’re excited to see what lies ahead for this Minnesotan tech giant!

Clearfield, Inc.

Clearfield, Inc., a longtime star in fiber management, just introduced their FieldShield YOURx Platform, “the world’s most advanced connectivity solution for the access network.” Clearfield’s existing modular hardware is well-loved by service providers, and this new platform is expected to be a crowd-pleaser as well. Curious about the details? Read the Clearfield press release to learn more about the FieldShield YOURx Platform features.

CommScope

After 40 years, CommScope certainly has much to celebrate. CommScope just celebrated its 40th anniversary and a decades-long collaborative partnership with the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTC) and the International Society of Broadband Experts (ISBE).

CommScope President and CEO Eddie Edwards was also just presented with the 2016 Louis V. Gerstner, Jr. Excellence Award by The Carlyle Group.

Be sure to check out CommScope’s Morgan Kurk and Davy Brown on YouTube as they discuss the future of communications networks, the influence of tech in our lives, and more! This award-winning company continues to deliver top-notch work and tech talent.

Gigabit Minnesota

Gigabit Minnesota is the residential fiber-to-the-home division of Velocity Telephone, a local Minnesota based telephone, data and Internet provider. Gigabit Minnesota is a business fiber provider building fiber to business parks and apartment complexes throughout the Twin Cities metro area.

Founded in 1997, Velocity Telephone has been an early pioneer of FTTH broadband connections that boast gigabit connections. But don’t take it from us. Read more about how Gigabit Minnesota is delivering fiber speeds to Roesmount, MN residents in “Why Fiber” by President of Gigabit Minnesota, Jim Hickle.

Hiawatha Broadband Communications

Small-town roots, small-town values, big-time service! Hiawatha Broadband Communications, Inc. (HBC) has been named a Top 100 FTTH Company by Broadband Communities Magazine this year for the eighth year in a row.

“HBC strives to bring the best services to its communities and fiber-optics make that possible,” said HBC President and CEO Dan Pecarina. “We work very hard to make sure our customers have an amazing broadband experience.”

This summer, HBC teamed up with some of their customers for an ongoing community art project. Community members have been decorating the HBC facility fence in Winona with communication-themed art. Quality broadband services have never looked better.

Lake Connections

Lake Connections recently finished building their redundant fiber optic ring! It will make their network even more reliable in the event of an unexpected outage — two, as they say, is better than one. Lake Connections is proud to provide this reliable connectivity, giving the rural residents of Lake County and eastern St. Louis County the same access as urban customers.
