Part 3. The Abyss
She always liked water. Not the beverage, not especially the rain either, but a big bath full of water was her thing. Then she grew up, discovered the seas, the oceans, and since, not one second passed without her thinking about those massive pools of water. She explored beaches, climbed up and down cliffs, dived among octopus in crevasses and ended building a floating home so she could enjoy water at any time. She didn’t like sailing, so in a way a floating home was more logical. Of course it didn’t went unnoticed. And due to all the dangers living on the water implied, the home was a state of the art danger detector. No storm, no tanker, no phases of the moon, not even a tiny wave provoked by a butterfly from the other side of the planet could pass through all the detectors. Huge funds made this floating home a possibility, and it could withstand practically anything. A modern Noah’s Ark. For just one girl who liked water more than anything in the world.
She was also lucky, her dream basically filled in more than 70% of our planet’s surface. We can argue that people whose dream is to fly have more space to explore, but theirs is still a dream.
Once in a while she stopped at an island to rebalance her internal organism, trade with natives… Mostly it gave her more reasons to never live on lands ever again. Rest of the time she enjoyed the water. The hidden presence of fishes of all sorts, whales, sharks and every sort of other creatures her mind imagined was living deep down under the sea. Living in this floating home you wouldn’t think that, but she was not very courageous. Rather she was very pragmatic. She wanted to spend her life on water, and for some time did have a small boat anchored to a lake (again, she didn’t like sailing); until she got her floating home. Now she wanted to explore all this unexplored territory under the sea. See things no one ever saw before. Like a conqueror she wanted to own the place first. But there was no way for her to do that freely. The abyss was out of her way. For the moment.
