My undergrad degree is in Soc and Anthro. I worked 4 jobs at a time to pay for it, including one in residence life to save me the cost of room and board. I loved it and was glad to graduate studying something I loved and working hard to get there.
Went on to grad school knowing I had paid for an education I wanted. I owed $1800 (roughly $3900 in today’s $). Went on to grad school still working at residence life at a higher level so my room, board, tuition, parking space (!) and a stipend were paid. Booyah. I was not too cool for school and I never regretted all the hard work.
