Good article. As I have got older (much older!), I see also how sexism extends to older women. I don’t mind being invisible, its so much easier than the constant overt and covert sexism that younger women have to face. But it does strike home sometimes. I was on the metro the other day, when I saw two women coming down the steps struggling with suitcases. A young man hurried to help the young, well-dressed young woman. No one went to help the old woman who was having more of a problem. I doubt he even saw her.
Overall though, it does get easier as you become invisible. There is a freedom to be yourself and the anger expressed towards you lessens (in my experience at least).
