Oh yeah, as a third grader I’d of loved to see a movie in class. Never did, though cause all we ever saw were b&w films via projector about exciting things like health and food and manners. As a teacher, I showed G-rated films at times, either to make a point, compare and contrast book with movie, or during one of those days just before a holiday. However, one time, when I was teaching fifth graders, I showed Ran, the Japanese adaptation of King Lear. (I forget why, probably had something to do with literature and film.) The upshot being I was grilled for over an hour by a concernmed mother as to why I showed the film. In the end I think I justified myself cause she didn’t file a complaint.
