Cause: Haemophilus Ducey bacterium

Genital Herpes

Cause: Herpes Simplex Virus strain 2 (HSV-2)

Symptoms: Lesions in the genital areas in both men and women.

Prevention: Herpevac vaccine for HSV-2 is currently in advanced stages of testing. Avoiding contact with the infected partner is still the best prevention.

Treatment: No known cure exists but some analgesics can help ease pain


Cause: Neisseria gonorrhoeae bacterium which reproduces very rapidly

Symptoms: In women, symptoms include off-menstrual cycle bleeding, post sexual intercourse bleeding and difficulty in urinating in women. In men, some symptoms include pain and swelling of the prostate and testicles

Prevention: Use of contraceptives and avoidance of sexual contact with an infected partner

Treatment: Antibiotics including Azithromycin, Cefixime, Cefotaxime and Cefotaxime

Genital Warts

Cause: Human papillomavirus

Symptoms: Genital, Anal and skin warts which can complicate to become cancers and Respiratory papillomatosis

Prevention: Proper hygiene and avoidance of sexual contact with an infected partner

Treatment: Cryosurgery and electrocautery for removing small blemishes.

Pubic Lice Infection

Cause: Lice were living in the pubic hair similar to head lice

Symptoms: Extreme itchiness and presence of lice

Prevention: Proper hygiene

Treatment: Special soap or shampoo Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome


Cause: human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)

Symptoms: Presence of many diseases caused by bacteria, virus, single-celled protozoa and other parasites. These opportunistic infectors attack when the immune system is damaged after the HIV attack

Prevention: Avoiding contact with contaminated food, needles, blood and other body fluids. Using contraceptives like condoms may not guarantee 100 percent safety but may relatively help prevent HIV infection.

Avoiding promiscuous sex activities is still one of the best preventive measures.

Treatment: There is not known cure at the moment, but millions of dollars have already been spent on research. Some other treatments may only help ease some pains.
