Your Friend Family

Day 313 — My friend family is diverse and relatively small. I tend to gravitate to well…I don’t know. There is no f’ing rhyme or reason. Like this meme, it just happens. This is where I’m probably most like my mother, of blessed memory. She never met a stranger. They just weren’t her friend yet! I approach things relatively similarly.

Which is probably why — by all objective measure — it is nearly impossible to pick my friends out of a line-up. Colorful characters from all walks of life. Every age, make, and model. I kinda like that about me. It confounds my children. As they got old enough to question, “How do you EVEN know him?” Usually? I don’t even remember.

It’s irrelevant. But as much of an enigma my friendship choices are, I am so heartfully grateful for them. They are the “family” I chose, after moving away from home at 22. They are the family that sustains me, when life knocks the cool out of me.

They don’t replace, but are my extended family. While I’m not confused as to who is my priority, it’s just nice to know they’ve got my back. Which is getting to be a much smaller target to cover as I lose weight. It doesn’t mean I need fewer friends however…so don’t get any ideas.

Of all the things that are helping to keep me on track in my weight loss, my friend family is relentless in their support and I can’t imagine crossing the goal line without any one of you. I’m over 1/2 way there. I’m not freaking out. OK. I’m freaking out. The holidays are coming. And staying on the wagon may be quite the challenge. Happy place. Happy place.

I’m doing some serious daily affirmations like, “I am powerful,” and “I am successful.” It makes me feel better. It is helping me manifest, even when those internal whispers of doubt begin to echo within. One of my new tricks acquired during this #bodytransformation and #selfactualization journey. Worth a try! In point of fact, EVERYTHING is worth a try. Even unlikely friendships…you just never know who you will meet in this life and what they will mean to your life!
