Dear Bernie Supporters: It’s Time to Vote for Hillary

Bernie and Trump both have powerful messages to certain marginalized sections of the population. There is not a complete overlap, but it is considerable. Both have campaigned pretty strongly against free trade agreements that destroy American jobs.

The bit about privilege is funny, because it is indeed a privilege. Any candidate is going to have to hit the brick wall of congress, so anything they’ve said at this point is wishlisting. Bernie is a committed socialist, sure, but he also sponsored a bill that allowed veterans to go to non-socialized VA hospitals. That’s compromise, meeting in the middle to satisfy both parties involved. That’s the sort of behavior that indicates future presidential behavior more than anything on the campaign trail, because one can say anything on the campaign trail. We see similar signs with Hillary, her talk of using the system to get things done. It’s even there with Trump. He sees himself as the ultimate deal maker. What is politics if it is not a series of deals?

All of that being said, it is remarkable how lousy a political class we have wound up with. That’s my biggest problem with this election cycle. Who is remarkable? Who has a vision for this country that only they can bring to bear? There’s none of that.

So I’m going to do a write in. If I vote at all. The down ticket choices will probably be even more revolting, considering my district.
