“You can’t make homes out of human beings, someone should have already told you that”
-Warsan Shire

Someone did tell me, but I split you open and crawled into you. Filling you up with all of me and me with you.

I laid claim to every corner of your being. Furnished and decorated you to my taste.

The room on the left, on the first floor, where your heart was supposed to be, was my favourite spot to sit and drink you in. All of your warm, ruby, velvet glory.

“You can’t make homes out of human beings, someone should have already told you that”

Home is where the heart is, right?

But with no heart, you could never truly be home.

I averted my eyes from the writings on the wall that screamed “for rent only”.
