Introducing Female Founders LA.

What Are We?

Anyone working in the startup world knows intuitively that women are not well represented, particularly in tech startup founder roles. While female entrepreneurship is on the rise, with 18% of 2014 funded startups having at least one female founder, there are still many challenges that female tech startup founders face. To help turn the tide, 5 Los Angeles-based tech startups have formed Female Founders LA to support one another, share resources, and widen their collective networks.

The 9 of us who comprise Female Founders LA come from roles at Google, GOOD, Crispin Porter + Bogusky, HUGE, and enso. The collective experience and lessons learned from our roles in advertising, user experience design, product development, internationalization, media, platforms, non-profit, social networks, and a history of serial entrepreneurship are relevant to an increasingly wide range of products, businesses, and industries. We have built and grown consumer experiences, platform products, ecomm solutions, and revenue-generating businesses. We love sharing our knowledge and expertise with each other and other female entrepreneurs.

The group found one another at various networking events for LA tech. It was clear that our complimentary backgrounds could be a massive help to one another. Each month, the group meets over dinner to share learnings from investor conversations, tips on growth hacking, advice for combating gender bias, and stories about the ups and downs of their startup’s journey. The group is committed to fostering an environment that supports and encourages women in the tech startup world through monthly gatherings, events with press and VCs, and outreach to underserved Los Angeles young women to ignite startup aspirations in the next generation of female founders.

The Dinner Party is a community of mostly 20- and 30-somethings who’ve each experienced significant loss, and get together over dinner parties to talk about it and the ways in which it continues to affect our lives. Together, we’re pioneering tools and community through which young people who’ve experienced significant loss can use their shared experience as a springboard toward living better, bolder, and more connected lives. | @dinnerpartiers
