I have a close friend that is still mourning the loss of his mom.

There is a tradition that Haitians have when someone passes away. You bring food to the bereaved family and offer yourself. That’s it. You just let them know that you are available, whenever and for whatever.
The needs change based on time and experiences. I know I do most of my grieving alone, but when I want to do something like paint, I want a friend around. I may talk about my feelings, I may not. I just need them to be ready for whatever as best as they can.
