Becoming a Bosu has always been about developing one’s inner passions and curiosities and then using the knowledge you gain to pass on to others. This is why Bosu Team felt Nelson was the perfect candidate for our first “The Bosu Within” blog. A short story of a passionate, caring, and positive individual; Grandpa Nelson.
Grandpa Nelson’s Superpowers
Although there could be a million different reasons why Nelson shows the traits and values of the Bosu community, we are going to focus on two superpowers that stood out in Nelson’s journey to success and happiness;
How to be unstoppable
Nelson grew up with a large family, including his parents and 12 other brothers! Although most would think that combo is the definition of chaos, this experience taught Nelson the importance of looking out for others and overall being a helpful person. Regardless of the situation’s outcome, Nelson would always create a positive aura around himself. After childhood, Nelson began studying and practicing for his life’s biggest passion, to become an Ophthalmologist (eye doctor). Nelson practiced for nearly 60 years, happily retiring at 90 years old! His choice to stay positive in the face of negativity is the reason why he was able to continue working in the medical field longer than some live a full life.
With great power, comes great humility
Nelson was incredibly proud of himself for the things he accomplished in his career and all parts of life, but you would never tell by how Nelson presented himself. He never gloated, gave himself an ego boost, or put anyone below him, but instead focused on helping others to one day find their successes in life through the things they were passionate about. Every day he would go to work with a smile on his face knowing he was doing what made him truly happy in life, which is a huge lesson he passed on to everyone he felt should hear it.
One of Nelson’s most significant takeaways from life was that happiness was key to living and loving life.
The true legacy he left behind
After a life full of passion and joy, Grandpa Nelson sadly passed away at the age of 94. Along with his career, Nelson also left a legacy through the family he created, passing along the lessons he learned that we’re the most important in life, which involved happiness, positivity, and caring for one another. He has build generations of legacies to use his teachings to follow their passions.
Who uploaded Grandpa Nelson?
It makes perfect sense why Grandpa Nelson’s grandson, Alejandro (Alejodice in our community), decided to immortalize his grandpa into the Bosuverse over himself, stating that it felt like the only option given the legacy he left behind for not only his family but others to learn and grow from.
