Hello everyone! My name is Misha Kuzmin from First AI Agency. In this article, I’ll explain how ordinary neural networks based on GPT models can replace standard corporate lawyers. I’ll show you how AI-based lawyers are already outperforming human specialists, helping people and companies save time and money on routine tasks. The best part is that anyone or any company can apply this principle themselves.

Background: How My Friend Lost About $5,000 From His Bank Account

A couple of months ago in Eastern Europe (Russia), my friend Mikhail had about $5,000 stolen from his bank account. Naturally, he immediately contacted the bank and asked for the money to be returned.

Here’s how the theft happened: the fraudsters bought airline tickets with his card, then refunded those tickets and received cash. It’s worth noting that banks in Eastern Europe don’t always return money immediately, even in clear cases of theft. The bank advised Mikhail to contact the intermediary service through which the tickets were purchased and to file a police report. Mikhail did as instructed, but the intermediary shifted the responsibility to the airline. It turned into a classic runaround.

What to Do in Such a Situation?

Typically, people turn to legal firms, which draft fairly standard requests and handle correspondence with both the bank and intermediaries. The first line of bank employees who handle these cases is trained to sort such requests: if an ordinary person writes in, they might be put on a waiting list and taken through a long, frustrating process until they give up and the issue resolves itself. However, if the request has a legal tone, it gets higher priority and is processed within the legal or company policy timeframes.

First Steps and Initial Discussions with the Bank

Mikhail’s first request to the bank was standard; he described the situation and asked for help in resolving it. The bank responded in the usual way, asking for three days to investigate. After three days, they asked for a few more. At this point, Mikhail realized he was being given the runaround. Instead of contacting a lawyer, Mikhail asked ChatGPT to draft a standard request, providing all the details. ChatGPT did this, incorporating relevant laws, legal precedents, and a list of violations the bank was already committing by delaying the case.

Imagine yourself in this situation, working with a human lawyer (whether in person, via email, or messaging). You would spend just as much time explaining the situation to the lawyer as you would to an AI. You would detail everything step by step. It wouldn’t matter whether this was done through voice or text. The essence of working with digital lawyers is that the interaction protocol is the same as with a regular person.

Further Developments

The situation then unfolded in a typical manner. The bank’s lawyers responded to Misha, clearly giving the request higher priority. Misha continued corresponding with the help of Chat GPT, and after a few weeks of back-and-forth, he finally got his money back.

What’s Noteworthy in This Situation?

In this fairly standard situation, a few things stand out:

- Misha spent $0 on legal services.

- He received responses from the AI-based lawyer within seconds, without wasting time and nerves waiting.

- The digital lawyer was able to resolve a standard situation, creating the impression that professionals were handling the case, thus raising the priority of the request.

The Main Question: Can Such a Lawyer Replace a Human?

I believe that in simple cases, yes, but in more complex ones, definitely not. This kind of lawyer won’t go to court for you, and in more complex and costly cases, the risk of error might outweigh the cost savings. But in simpler situations where you need to ask something quickly, review a contract, or draft a complaint letter, this type of lawyer does an excellent job.

Potential Savings for Standard Businesses

Such a lawyer costs around $20 per month (the cost of a ChatGPT subscription). If you don’t have complex legal cases and you have a legal firm that supports you, you can try using this approach, potentially saving up to $30,000 a year.

If you have many legal cases, you can use such a lawyer for simple situations and leave the complex ones to your legal firm.

How Else Can These Digital Assistants Be Used?

This approach can also be applied in marketing, app development, design, and content creation. Soon, I’ll write about how an enthusiast created an app for the Apple Store without a single programmer.
