“You never told me what they call you.”

“You know my name.”

“I know the name everyone uses for you day by day. But, I don’t know your real name.”

“Why should I tell you?”

“Because I’ve earned knowing it.”

“Even if I told you, you wouldn’t understand why they call me it.”

“You don’t know what I would understand and what I wouldn’t.”

“Still, I’m not going to tell you.”

“Why not?”

“Because I never want you to call me by that name.”

Prompt: Write a piece that is entirely dialogue. Here is a beginning line: “You never told me …” — From Patchwork Farm
