While all crypto’s were plummeting an innovative dApp got released: dWorld. Finding dWorld amidst all the chaos has been refreshing and has kept my mind preoccupied during the FUD of the crash.
So what is dWorld? dWorld is a dApp (decentralised App) on the Ethereum platform that works by utilizing the MetaMask add-on in Chrome/ Firefox. The core concept is that you can buy plots of the world. Each of these plots are customizable by attaching a title, description, url and image.
After taking a look at the mechanics, I was intrigued by the ROI potential on initial investment and the fun factor.
So how does dWorld work? Buying an unclaimed plot can be done for as little as 0.0125ETH. When somebody buys a plot in your plot’s shell (the surrounding 8 plots) you receive a dividend, just for having your plot right next to the action. The dividend amounts to 0.00625ETH + a shared 5% on top divided by all surrounding plots. Yes you read this right! YOU RECEIVE HALF YOUR INVESTMENT IN DIVIDEND for each plot being claimed in your shell! Each plot has 8 shell plots and people can buy out the shell plots, meaning that as long as you own the plot, the amount of dividends you could obtain are limitless. That’s just insane!
But there’s more. In its essense it’s a flipping game, where plots are bought and flipped for a higher price. If your plot gets flipped, so does your initial investment. On any claimed plot you can set the buy-out price up to 0.05ETH meaning a 400% ROI on your invesment. The ROI factor goes down as it’s flipped more and more (see image below). On the other hand, a plot that has been flipped before draws more attention and will be more visible when zooming out of the map increasing the chances it will be flipped again.
The cherry on the pie — it’s possible to invite all your friends and earn a percentage of their purchases when they claim a free plot or when they flip a plot that has already been claimed.
In short, there is a total of three options to generate ROI through playing and promoting the game. These mechanics create space for various strategies. One of such could be to buy trending plots in order to make a quick flip on your investment. Or perhaps you prefer to claim untaken plots in famous places under the assumption that you will receive dividends from the plots around you. You could also claim or flip plots around already trending plots in order to make steady dividends. Everyone can adapt their strategy to their liking.
However, dWorld is not just some money-machine. It’s a game which can be played in multiple ways and one that provides a lot of freedom. I consider dWorld to be a giant artboard and its community as the artists. Making money while doing so is just a nice added bonus. I’ve seen entire cities being turned into one giant meme or into huge Emma Watson shrines.
One of the best things about dWorld is that its developer, Quasar, is very active on the dWorld discord channel and that with every update, more and more hidden potential is shown to its community.
dWorld has only recently been released and is already fully functional. The fact that its developer is very dedicated and that it’s already this much fun in its early stage are signs to me that dWorld will grow out to be the next big thing in the dApp space. Its plots are already used by other crypto games as advertisement plots.
I’m looking forward to see how dWorld and its community will develop and what kind of crazy dynamic artworks will be made.
