One of the advantages of cryptocurrencies is that they are very much a global phenomenon. While we now live in a globalized world, what we historically know as money has geographic limitations. With cryptocurrencies, we are entering an era where we can choose the currencies we want to earn and save, and then spend them how and where we want.

For nearly a decade a handful of large, well known companies have been accepting Bitcoin. More recently, smaller companies around the globe have also started to accept digital currencies. And, its not only Bitcoin and well-known currencies that are being accepted. New point of sale technology now makes it easy for these businesses to accept any digital token.

The following are just some of the businesses that accept cryptocurrencies in countries all over the world.

Europe

In London, UK, you can buy liquid for your e-cigarette from House Of Vapes, second hand electronic appliances from CEX and stationery at Some Odd Pages.

You can also rent a desk at the Rentadesk shared working space.

Over in Spain, you can book a room at the One Shot Hotels chain using digital currencies. And in Paris, the Le Picotin bistro now accepts Bitcoin.

If you need to hire a luxury vehicle, Lurento allows customers to rent high-end cars in 70 cities across Europe. The company recently added crypto as a payment option too.

Asia

In 2017 Japan officially recognized Bitcoin as a means of payment. By the end of the year around 250,000 stores across the country were accepting Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. In Tokyo these include jewelry stores, tattoo parlors and travel agents.

In Hong Kong, crypto will buy you a drink at the well-known IQ Bar in Hong Kong, and you can also buy jewelry at Larimer, a famous local jewelry store.

In South Korea, a travel booking website allows travelers to crypto to book rooms at 50,000 hotels, guesthouses and caravan parks.

There are alos more unusual and remote options. You can use Bitcoin to stay at a guesthouse in remote Sikkim in North Eastern India, and you can get your surfboard repaired in Phan Thiet, Vietnam.

Australia and New Zealand

The Old Fitzroy, a theatre-pub in Sydney accepts crypto payments — in fact, it was one of the first local businesses in Australia to accept crypto. Over in New Zealand, First Choice Realty now accepts Bitcoin for real estate purchases.

Africa

The Alexander Bar, a theatre and bar in Cape Town, accepts Bitcoin, and South Africans can use crypto to buy imported furniture from Nevada Furniture.

If you would like to go on safari in Kenya, the Ol Mesera tented camp accepts payment in crypto.

South America

If you find yourself in Buenos Aires, you’ll be in luck. The city is fast gaining a reputation as the crypto capital of South America. Growing numbers of restaurants, hotel and shops accept digital currencies in the city.

Other cities in South America are also jumping on the bandwagon. For example, in Rio de Janeiro you can use crypto to rent an apartment through Copa Apartments.

Summary

Consumers are increasingly getting used to the idea of investing in cryptocurrencies and using them for purchases.

Small businesses in every country are realizing that to keep their customers happy, they need to accept cryptocurrencies. Fortunately, new point-of-sale technologies are making the process much easier for business owners who aren’t technologically savvy. In the next few years you’ll see more and more businesses in your neighborhood accepting cryptocurrencies — and that’s one of the reasons why FlipNpik needs to support these businesses in their digital shift.
