Music Recognition Technology (MRT) is a relatively new field of action. Still, this market is undoubtedly destined to rapidly grow within the next few years.
It was mid 2018 when this article appeared on Digital Music News:
“One of the biggest challenges confronting the music industry is simple recognition. If a song is played, is it actually recognized, processed, and paid?”
Spoiler: the answer is no. Even so, we might be on the right track.
What do we exactly mean when we talk about MRT?
In this sense, the best definition is the one given by PRS For Music website:
“MRT refers to technology which is used to help identify music through sound. …
Local music is the beating heart of every big city and small town. Without our support, it might soon fade away (but we won’t let this happen!)
Every single musician in the world comes from a local music scene. Everyone starts somewhere, and that “somewhere” for a lot of artists means playing in their hometown’s old little venue with an audience of a few dozen people. Nobody did just start out playing to thousands of people in big, renowned international clubs and arenas. Nobody. All the musicians we listen to were once local artists, members of a small niche community.
Emerging musicians’ community often is a small group of people supporting each other by attending each other’s live gigs, sharing social media likes and emotional support. …
Thinking about streaming a live music session, concert or festival? Here are some easy tips and tricks you need to remember to always be broadcast-ready
Ok, you have just bought the tickets for your favourite artist’s forthcoming concert in town. Our planet is drowning in plastic, millennials are struggling with mental health, AI and robots are taking over…maybe it’s better not to take people power for granted.
Another concept we align with, now more than ever, is that of empowerment. That’s a term borrowed from community psychology. Even if we know what to empower / to be empowered means, it might be a little more complicated to explain. Some definitions are “the process of gaining freedom and power to do what you want”, or “the process of becoming stronger and more confident” and again “to increase the degree of autonomy and self-determination in people”. Actually, in our everyday life, we can experience various nuances of empowerment according to the context: workspace, personal identity, society, development. This is why we talk of employee empowerment, gender empowerment, citizen empowerment and so on. …
