How to register for Google India’s Code to learn Contest for Students

What is Google India’s Code to learn Contest?

Convergence and increased propagation of Information Communication Technologies have impacted our day to day lives to such an extent that a basic understanding of Computer Science has become an essential part of education. Getting started with HTML, C language, C++, Java and other related topics have already become an essential segment in the curriculum of school students.

Google India has always endeavoured promoting fun and interesting ways to learn computer programming. One of their recent initiatives for doing the same is the Code to Learn Contest. Describing this initiative, Google Fellow, Dr Guha said, “Programming is not just about computer science. It is a set of tools for kids to explore new ideas, virtually build new things, and experience the frustration of things not working and finally the exquisite joy of creating something new from scratch. Programming democratizes the education of innovative thinking.”

The core idea of the Code to Learn contest is to give the students an idea about the power of programming and give them hands on experience to tackle the problems which one faces every day at work.

Code to Learn Contest now a part of Rashtriya Avishkaar abhiyan

The recently launched Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan by former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam included the Code to Learn initiative. The winners of the contest would be gratified with cool prizes from Google India and Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

Both the tools, namely Scratch and App Inventor have been designed and developed at MIT keeping the students as its exclusive target audience. These tools make programming very easy and students are able to tell stories, make animations, build games and create Android apps in a quick and impulsive manner.
