Don't Let a Problem Own You
Problems limit our ability to think and act. When we see a problem, we stop seeing opportunities outside of the problem. Our scopes become so focused on the problem, that we miss the bigger picture. In fact, as David Niven argues in his book It’s Not About the Shark, problems can become so invigorating that they even distract us from our most fundamental beliefs.
Let Bad Processes & Stubborn People Take Their Natural Course
The stubborn fool will always deliver his input on the wrong day, ‘forgets’ to include all the vital information and hands it in in a format that needs at least three hours of editing to become useful. Instead of saving that fool, put him in the spotlight. Let him crash publicly. Omit his report because of not meeting the standards and see what happens.
A Workforce Going On Demand
When companies start to run en masse after the fickle demands of the customer, real job security is an illusion. Working with different employers then becomes a defense mechanism to protect oneself from job loss. If you lose one employer, you at least still have a few others that can keep you going. These loose connections with employers fit the narrative where careers are increasingly without boundaries, not constrained by one organization.
