Florian (Flo) Leibert has been an equity partner at the Data Collective in San Francisco, California, since 2011. As the CEO of Mesosphere, Inc., Florian Leibert helped create Marathon, a container orchestration platform designed for Datacenter Operating System (DC/OS) and Apache Mesos.

As an orchestrator of both apps and frameworks, Marathon runs on Apache Mesos, and it is the first framework launched while operating in tandem with Mesos. Thus, the Marathon scheduler processes commence using a tool such as init or Upstart.

When running on DC/OS, the Marathon platform offers two significant benefits. One positive feature is virtual IP routing, which permits an app to have a dedicated virtual address to allow automatic load balancing and rerouting to circumvent failures. Marathon also offers authorization on the DC/OS Enterprise Edition. Authorization permits true multitenancy, so each group or individual user has access to their own groups and applications.

Marathon is used by major Internet-based companies eBay, Groupon, WooRank, and Yelp.
