Among the speakers is Fred Tingberg Jr., Basanite’s Chief Technology Officer, who leads Basanite’s product development, sales, and technical certification programs, as well as ensures the Basanite’s adherence to government building codes and construction regulations.

With last year’s Surfside apartment collapse disaster setting the stage, Basanite Industries, LLC (hereafter referred to as “Basanite”) (OCTQB: BASA) will host an in-person technical discussion panel on the use of basalt fiber-reinforced concrete for commercial and governmental building and construction professionals in Palm City, Florida on Tuesday, June 28, 2022.

Those not able to attend in person can stream the event live here: https://vimeo.com/722227448

The panel features several materials engineering experts and academic researchers known worldwide for their work with the use of basalt in concrete.

Basanite manufactures non-corrosive, lightweight, composite concrete reinforcing materials it has developed and engineered using basalt fiber as a sustainable, non-corrosive alternative to conventional steel reinforcement.

The event, which begins at 10 a.m. (ET) at the Fox Country Club in Palm City, Florida, will notably feature Dr. Brahim Benmokrane of Canada’s Sherbrooke University, an internationally renowned technical expert and world leader in the field of structural concrete internally reinforced with fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP). His pioneering research has significantly influenced the development of concrete structures reinforced with FRP rebars, building codes and design specifications, as well as FRP’s practical use in North America and beyond.

Additional speakers include:

· Alvaro Ruiz Emparanza, Ph.D., Director of Engineering and Business Development for Mafic USA, a Florida-based manufacturer of continuous and chopped basalt fiber and long fiber thermoplastic resins.

· Fred Tingberg Jr., Basanite’s Chief Technology Officer, who leads the company’s product development, sales, and technical certification programs, as well as ensures the Basanite’s adherence to government building codes and construction regulations.

· Jesus Escalona, Basanite Engineering Department Manager, an experienced civil and structural engineer; and

· Vesna Stanic, Ph.D., Basanite’s Director of Quality Assurance, who is a materials engineer and chemist with multi-disciplinary expertise in materials development and commercialization.

“Using basalt fiber to reinforce concrete is not only the green choice, but serves to significantly extend the life of the construction products we create,” Tingberg Jr. explained.

Recently, the Village of Indian Creek selected Basanite to manufacture and supply multiple reinforcement products for use in its sea walls, concrete catch basins and stormwater structures. Significantly, Indian Creek is directly latitudinal to the Town of Surfside in Miami-Dade, which was the site of the oceanfront Champlain Towers collapse in June 2021 where rising groundwater, King Tides and deteriorating concrete from saltwater erosion were considered as factors in studies of the disaster.
