Holy Cross Health Adds New Board Member

Linda B. Carter, who recently retired as CEO and president of Community Foundation of Broward after 23 years, has been named to the Holy Cross Health Board of Directors.

“Linda has had a distinguished career serving our community,” said Holy Cross Health President and CEO Mark Doyle. “Linda is an inspiring leader who brings a wealth of experience to our board. We are thrilled to have her.”

As CEO and president of the Community Foundation of Broward, Carter raised assets from $20 million to more than $220 million and increased annual grants from under $1 million a year to more than $1 million a month, enabling the Foundation to take a leadership role in addressing foster care reform, education and the arts, to name a few. Under her stewardship the Foundation was the first community foundations in Florida to be deemed in full compliance with National Standards and inclusion in the prestigious list of Top 100 community foundations nationwide. Previously, she was executive vice president of the Museum of Discovery and Science where she created and executed a long-range plan to become a world class science center.

Lifetime Achievement Award, South Florida Business Journal Ultimate CEO Award, Community Leadership Award from Friends of Birch State Park and 2–1–1 Agent of Change Award, among others.

“As a Broward County native, I am keenly aware of the stellar healthcare provided by Holy Cross Health for more than 60 years,” Carter said. “I am excited to play a part to improve the health of our diverse and growing community.”

Carter currently serves as secretary of the board of trustees of Florida House on Capitol Hill, the State Embassy on Capitol Hill that connects, celebrates and champions Florida. She also sits on the grants, nominating and marketing committees for Funding Arts Broward. Among the many boards she has served on are Broward Workshop, Jack and Jill Children’s Center, Museum of Discovery and Science, Funding Arts Broward and Urban League of Greater Fort Lauderdale.

Carter earned a bachelor’s degree in advertising with a minor in marketing from University of Florida. She is a Fort Lauderdale resident.
