With better knowledge what will we do?

As we move into the new phases of the Covid-19 crisis, we are discovering new truths about the world we live in, what underlying inequalities have been uncovered, how decisions are made (and by whom!) as well as all the opportunities that we had at our fingertips before the world was locked down.

As the lead of Fondation CHANEL and on behalf of our team, I realize that our greatest asset as a philanthropic organization is the invaluable network of partners, friends and guides who have shed light on the realities they face in recent weeks.

We have learned a lot, by listening to what is happening in neighborhoods, in homes and in the media, with our attention acutely focused on the lives of girls and women who are either stranded without homes, without a job or left in charge of their families without social protection — and even facing increased risk of violence within their households.

So with better knowledge what will we do?

Go faster and respond more flexibly to the imperatives of the social actors who give their utmost best in these days of sorrow and uncertainty.

We hope to bring further awareness as well on these realities and will continue to forward the most relevant and thought provoking articles and research on gender equality and women’s role in the next phases of recovery.

Fondation CHANEL is at the crossroads of the key informants providing insights on how the economic, social, environmental impacts will be felt by women and girls everywhere. We count on a growing network of partners to continue to feed the commitment for a stronger anticipation of the consequences today and tomorrow, to sustain our contribution for a gender equal future.

Let’s build it together.
