Sharpen your ink-lettering skills this October!

The Inktober initiative started by Jake Parker sees ink artists from around the world take up the challenge to create one ink drawing a day for the entire month of October. (If you’d like to see what other artists have created, check out the Inktober bot on Twitter.)

This year, we’re joining in on the fun with an Inktober challenge of our own.

The (Incredibly Simple) Rules

  1. Create lettering in ink. (No digital lettering, please.)
  2. Post it on Fontli.
  3. Hashtag it with #inktober.
  4. Repeat till October 31st, 2014.

If you’re not on Fontli already, you can download the iOS app or the Windows Phone app and get started.

The Prizes

Anyone can participate in the #Inktober challenge on Fontli (applicable worldwide) and if you participate, you’re eligible to win:

1. A branded ink artist’s pen kit.

2. A copy of ‘Typography Sketchbooks’ by Steven Heller.

3. A Fontli t-shirt.

Why You Should Use the Hashtag #inktober

The main reason why you should use the hashtag is to make your work more discoverable. It will help people find your work, like it or comment on it and motivate you to keep going!

That said, we’re also going to be following the hashtag and promoting the best posts on Fontli every single day. And we’ll be blogging about you guys right here on Medium too.

At the end of the month, we’ll announce three winners based on the posts that get the most likes on Fontli.

So get your pens ready, get pumped and start inking! We have no limit on entries and winners will be announced on November 1st, 2014.
