4:55 — Get Home Now 7/1
As soon as the cards appeared on Oddschecker on Thursday evening, Get Home Now attracted punters en masse as they looked to sweep up the early price. The 9yo is a three-time winner from 2m 3f to 2m 4f on good to firm and good ground and should get similar conditions again today. Sean Bowen takes the ride for his father Peter and looks overpriced for a race lacking depth. Main threat and market leader Prince Mahler is chasing a hat-trick of wins but will have to contend with a 7lb penalty and drop back in trip.
5:25 — Lake Chapala 11/4
Lake Chapala got off the mark at the first time of asking for his new trainer Chris Gordon at Plumpton last time, and despite a 7lb rise for his success, he should have too much for this field. Marc Goldstein takes the ride again after steering the 8yo to success at Plumpton and the only real competition for today should come in the shape of Lord Ben. The winner of four chases has come close on numerous occasions, but his last win was over two years ago and you can expect that record to continue given his current handicap mark.
5:55 — Brotherley Company NAP — 15/8
Harry Fry’s yard has been in cracking from lately and he looks almost certain to improve his record with Brotherley Company today. He’s only a pound higher than when he finished second at Stratford in March, putting him in the right grade today. The rest of the field have been struggling to find any kind of form of late whilst the selection has looked to be progressing with each run to date. Work In Progress looks likely to go off second favourite, but he’s shown nothing since returning from a spell chasing.
7:00 — Old Harry Rocks 13/8
Another win for the duo that is Noel Fehily and Harry Fry! Old Harry Rocks has shown promise in all of his five career starts to date including when sent off 11/8 favourite for a maiden hurdle over 2m1f here in April. Today’s extended trip should bring about further improvement as plenty he is related to plenty of winners over longer trips. Talkischeap is fairly unexposed and has placed in all three of his bumpers, but had it all to prove today on his hurdle debut although he is a three-time point-to-point winner.
8:05 Filemon 11/1
Jamie Snowden has a decent record with his bumper runners at the track, operating at a 25% strike-rate over the last five seasons. Top jockey Sam Twiston-Davies is an eye catching booking and with little form to go on is a tentative choice as the prices.
