Peel off the layers and shine brightly

When staying where you are isn’t an option…

When I was 21 I felt that something was missing. I had no idea what it was, but I knew in my heart that staying where I was wasn’t an option. Leaving my fiancé, our home and our cats and moving back in with my parents was tough. There was no tangible event or occurrence to use as a reason for this massive shift, which meant that many people didn’t understand why I was seemingly throwing away a great lifestyle.

Fast forward a couple of years through a corporate redundancy that opened the door for a new career in nutrition and fitness, a lighter, leaner body, new connections, new friends and a whole host of new experiences that together created part of who I am today.

That’s the thing of course. When one door closes, another opens.

This new lifestyle and career led me to the sunny island of Jersey. A place where I would meet my future husband and father of my beautiful daughters; a place where I would make many spiritual connections and deep friendships and a place I could call home.

Over the last twenty years I’ve failed and grown, failed and grown, many, many times. I’ve come out of divorce, grief, loss, financial troubles and house moves with massively increased resilience, strength, love and a deep fundamental belief that everything really will be ok.

But something was still missing.

I spent the whole of last summer working on myself, trying to figure out where I might find that elusive something I’ve spent a lifetime searching for. I used books, EFT and tapping, mindset coaching and journalling but the biggest shift came for me last October at a gathering of women called Rise Sister Rise, led by Rebecca Campbell. Some serious magic happened in that room on a sunny Sunday in Bournemouth. It’s hard to explain what shifted exactly, but I feel a sense of freedom and a deeper connection to who I really am.

The answer to our questions is always hidden within us, it just takes some uncovering.

So like a beautifully wrapped Christmas present with layers of tissue paper, I slowly peeled away each one until my light shone so brightly I could no longer ignore it. Listening to my sisters, feeling supported and loved, sharing the group energy and sensing an overwhelming surge of love, it was finally time to show the world who I am. It’s no longer possible to stay small and invisible. It’s time to spread my love, knowledge, experience and passion to a wider audience.

From this place of love and authenticity, with the support and energy of my fellow sisters, I bring you Bowls of Soul. Nourishing food, simple plant-based cooking with a modern twist; compassion and love for all beings, nature and the environment, and a desire to inspire, motivate and educate millions of people around the world.

Feeding bodies, feeding souls, feeding minds.

Bowls of Soul encapsulates everything I’m passionate about, everything I love and everything I spend the majority of my time creating. I’m a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend. I nurture, nourish and love. I educate, inspire and motivate. I cook, eat and share food. I love colour, patterns and pretty things. I love warm bowls of comfort food and energising bowls of fruit and salad. I love to learn and study, to teach and share knowledge, passion and experience.

If you’d like to connect with me, collaborate, reach out to offer love or support or simply to share your thoughts, please come and join my Facebook Group Eat More Plants (A community to build connection, clarity and confidence).

Bowls of Soul comes from my heart to yours, with love.
