2016 has been a real shitter. We know this. And it looks as though there’s a sting in the tail to our very own annus horribilis as news broke this morning of a plane crash in Cerro Gordo, Colombia.

The charter flight from Bolivia to Medellín was carrying 81 people including the Brazil Serie A side Chapecoense, who were on their way to play in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final vs. Atlético Nacional.

Reports state that 76 people died in the crash and 5 survived, including Chapecoense players Alan Ruschel, Marcos Danilo Padilha and Jacson Follmann. Several journalists flying with the squad also lost their lives.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of all those affected by this tragic incident.

Rest In Peace.
