Today: For Our Future Michigan Launching Major Door-to-Door Voter Contact Program
Statewide canvass to start with listening to Michiganders about issues that matter most to them
DETROIT — More than five months before Election Day, For Our Future Michigan this morning is launching a major door-to-door voter contact program to learn more about the issues that move Michiganders to community action and to the polls. The launch of the statewide canvass is an early show of progressive strength and large-scale voter engagement heading into the 2018 election.
The door-to-door voter contact program — which will soon be active all over Michigan — launches this week in Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Oak Park, and Ypsilanti. This initial launch of the statewide canvass is dedicated to hearing what voters have to say about issues affecting their families and communities, and will continue to ramp up and run through Election Day.
“We are committed to winning in 2018, building a permanent progressive infrastructure for Michigan’s future, and mobilizing and empowering people and organizations to drive change in their communities — all over this state and all over the country,” said For Our Future’s Michigan Communications Director Joshua Pugh. “We’re excited to be launching this field canvass in Michigan months before Election Day, because it’s never too early to start talking to voters about the issues impacting their day-to-day lives.”
Over the next several months, For Our Future canvassers will knock on over a million doors throughout the state to talk with voters about elections up and down the ticket and about core progressive issues: including creating shared economic prosperity, strengthening public schools, advancing social and racial justice, and protecting our environment.
