Let’s Talk Multiple Sheets — What’s the Big Deal?

Now one of the most popular inquiries we receive from users is this big question ‘Why are form responses stored in multiple sheets/tabs?’ and we thought, why not break down this issue about our easy to use form builder.
So, you sent out your form links and now you have your responses. Great stuff! But your answers have come in and you noticed they are stored in multiple sheets/tabs.
The reason why this happens a lot is because a new sheet/tab is created in your form’s spreadsheet after you make an edit to your form.
Let’s break this down a little bit, let’s say you built your form with 12 fields and the feedback has been tremendous, you’re getting the file attachments you requested and you can see them in your Google Drive or Dropbox, whichever one you prefer. You went back to your form and noticed that you have no need for one of the fields you put in earlier, maybe three and so you deleted the labels/questions you did not need and reordered the fields to have the most important questions first. What you have done right there, is incredibly useful to you and it will help you streamline the answers you receive.
If the responses you received when you had 12 fields and those received after editing are included in the same sheet, you might be a tad bit confused. For a start, the number of questions have reduced, the fields have also been reordered and you might get confused trying to match which response is for which field. That will set you back like twenty steps and we do not want that, hence the reason behind our storing incoming responses in a new sheet after making an edit to your form.
This helps preserve the integrity of your data and prevent it from being overwritten. Your responses remain organized and you are not confused about your data when you receive new responses.
Because this implementation is useful for you, you can only prevent this from happening by making all edits to your form (if possible) before sharing your form with your form users or before you start receiving responses. The more edits you make to your form, the more new sheets/tabs are added to your form’s response spreadsheet.
If you would really love to have all your responses in one sheet after collecting data from your forms (not recommended for active forms though) to help you sort your responses better, you can look into using the Merge Sheets add-on to merge the multiple sheets into one sheet. Very soon, we will be rolling out a feature that will enable you view your form responses right in Formplus and not just in Google Sheets.
