Reading this, I’m not sure whether I should laugh or cry. Why are you talking to your 5 year old about race, criminal statistics and unfair incarceration?

Does she have access to the data you use, or is this a kind of brainwashing?

If you genuinely want your kid not to care about it, dismiss her notions of skin color being a problem like a rational human being would: laugh it off and say “Honey, that’s just not right”

The “Why” questions will never stop, but hopefully the biological computer that is your daughter will grow to find the answers for herself, instead of depending on an adult male figure to give her all the answers and shelter her from the cruel world.
