In California, it’s no socks, or crazy socks. That’s it.
When I worked on the east coast, ties, and to a certain extent, shoes and belts, were the only way to stand out from the crowd. Some wore less than conservative socks, but we are finally out of the argyle sock age!
My first few years in California, I wore boring socks with a suit and tie to work and customer visits, and quickly learned that was not the “West Coast” look, even in the Financial Services sector. A suit with no tie and a nice shirt was about as formal as people get here.
So, I decided that I would restock my boring sock drawer, along with the orphan sock pile I’m sure we all have, with some more aggressive and quite frankly, probably overpriced socks, but the quality and fit are the best I’ve ever had.
I happened to use these guys, but there are plenty of options out there for you to google to your hearts content. I will say I love the socks I have received and I am not compensated in any way by these folks.
Of course, I did purposely leave out watches, as I have a borderline “problem” when it comes to fine timepieces, so for the time being, I’ll stick to socks!
