Digital Citizenship: What’s Your Approach?
The Obama Foundation

There is already a proven successful model for digital citizenship, a model that teaches the values, standards and ethics for consuming and creating online content: Verify your sources, check your facts, incorporate a diversity of viewpoints, correct your mistakes, sign your real name and consider the impact of your words on others. That model is called “high school journalism.” It is the essential gateway to informed, participatory citizenship and should be embraced — and fully supported, including financially — by every school district in America. The New Voices movement,, advocates for all students to have access to meaningful opportunities to consume and share news as the foundation of effective civic education.
