How will be the future of work?
We are shaping today the way we will work tomorrow.
Most of the organizations acknowledge that they need to adapt a new way of working, reshape their business processes and policies to attract, retain and inspire the best employees. In a very near future, the workplace will be more and more driven by the collective intelligence. In fact, the Millennial Generation, also called the generation Y, is a very different workforce than its predecessor. Hyper-connected, they require a perfect work/life balance and they expect the work environment to respond to their needs. From now on, employees are going to lead work management, and organizations will have to adapt their processes to this new workforce.
Furthermore, communicating is going to be faster, information will be more and more transparent and knowledge sharing will prevail over personal expertise. Organizations can no longer avoid those changes, and the sooner they improve their work organization, the more competitive they will be.

A changing work environment
“Organizations are embracing new ways of working, with the virtual expansion of the workplace and methods of communication being at the core of the change”. In most companies workers are using email to communicate internally and externally. In 2013, a typical worker received about 105 email messages per day. And even if the growth rate, in number of emails sent and received per day, is slowing down due to the rise in other forms of communication, in 2015 a typical worker is expected to receive about 125 email messages per day. Emails are a dead end because they don’t help people communicate easily anymore. In fact, they overcharge our workflow, making our internal information exchanges just a waste of time.
Besides, in our connected world, employees are more mobile. They need to access information wherever they are and at any time. They need to communicate quickly with their teammates, or with third parties. And mobile devices offer the opportunity to access any information anywhere. So even if workers are not physically present in the workplace, they need to communicate as if they were, and to access information in order to focus on what really needs to be done.
The Future of Work is all about Getting Things Done, Together and reducing work friction. We spend too much time doing work about work and not actually accomplishing our tasks. That’s why companies have to rethink their general process, and use new tools to facilitate their workers organization and communication. In fact, the shift towards horizontal management has already started, and workers need to access their organization’s knowledge and share their own informations quickly and easily.

In our connected world, people need to share knowledge in context quickly in order to be efficient. We moved from an individual work environment to a collective workforce.
