A Quick Start Guide to Pokemon Go
A Quick Start Guide to Pokemon Go

It’s been a few days since the Pokémon Go frenzy caught the Earth. From hardcore fans to newbies, the virtual reality game, powered by Nintendo, accounts for thousands of downloads and overcomes Tinder and Twitter. The game has already known a huge success in Asia, Oceania and in the USA, and is soon to be released in Europe and Japan. Although the game is not available in France yet, FRED & FARID has taken the hidden path and entered the Parisian Pokémon hunting game.
The virtual reality technology makes our children’s dreams come true: we’re real Pokémon trainers now, and wild Pokémons can appear on the corner of the street at any moment. In France, Facebook Events have already been created to gather all Parisian Pokémon trainers for a massive hunt on the French National Day (14th of July). The same phenomenon has already been observed in Central Park (NY) and in Irak, and the topic has become trending on all social network services since the game’s launch, on July 7th.
The best part is: all the geeks and kids in the world now have a good reason to spend their time outside! A nice way to combine gaming, entertainment and work out. Finally, all Pokémon trainers are enabled to discover some hidden parts of their own cities, as Pokéstops are often placed in old monuments’ places.
Here are some quick tips to get started:
- PokéStops are places, often located in old monuments’ places, where you can get PokéBalls and random objects for free. The thing is to swipe on the picture to unlock the rewards.
- Even if you already caught one Pokémon, don’t hesitate to catch it again and again: it makes you gain experience, level up and gives you items to make your Pokémon grow faster!
- The higher your level is, the more you can catch stronger Pokémon, of which rarity also grows with your Pokémon trainer level.
- Once you won in an arena, you can place one of your Pokémon to secure it. If your Pokémon is defeated, it will automatically return safe from the arena to your Pokémon team.
- We believe that Pokémon appear depending on where you are. For example, you could easily catch a Krabby in front of a seafood restaurant! Be sure to travel the whole city to find different species and types of Pokémon.
- You can make the Pokéball turn on itself when catching a Pokémon to gain bonus XP by maintaining your finger on the ball and draw a circle around it. It gives an effect to your Pokéball and raises your chances to catch the Pokémon in front of you.
- The green/yellow/red circle around the Pokémon indicates how difficult it is to catch it. It has to be as small as possible before you launch the Pokéball to have more chances to catch it.
- You can “load” your Pokémon to the maximum to make them more powerful (as it increases PC) and increase your chances to win in arenas. When you click on one Pokémon, you can see a circular arc which shows your Pokémon level.
- There are 3 types of Pokémon Eggs : 2km, 5km and 10km. The more kilometers you need to walk to make an egg hatch, the more the Pokémon it encloses is rare!
- Each Pokémon trainer sees the same Pokémon as the other trainers around him.
- The incense is key! Wait until you use them all, as it’s not very useful at level 3 and in your usual zone. Wait until you visit other zones to use them and catch as many Pokémon as possible.
Ready? Let’s go catch them all!
