[Business Story] IBM to buy Truven Health Analytics for 2,6 billion
Truven supplies health-care data service employers, hospitals and drugmakers to measure the efficacy of services and products. Its software can, thanks to data analysis, tell hospital whether patients were given unnecessary procedures. The deal will double the size of IBM’s Watson Health business unit to 5000 employees which will deeply embedded IBM in the health-care system.
IBM shares increased on last Thursday, ending on the NY stock exchange up 5%. The 104-year-old company’s is trying to turn around its fortunes by making new investments in data analytics, security and mobile computing as IBM’s core businesses still decline.
