Down With CBD (yeah you know me)

My stepfather’s hospice pain management relies heavily on The State of Washington’s finest medical marijuana. For him, a scheduled combination of of 2-to-1 CBD/THC combined with partial doses of oxy, provides relief.

I also take CBD (with low to no THC) for iterant issues — no negative side effects, no getting high (I do not smoke weed), and no taxation on the liver and kidneys, unlike actual pharma-meds. I haven’t taken an Advil in 4 years.

Now is the time we are savoring precious lucidity. I am witnessing two people who deeply love one another’s process of letting each other go, while simultaneously bonding their love for infinity. To lose the love of your life is to be in heart’s harmony and the eternal conundrum of impermanence. This means that you got your best case scenario: You were fortunate to have a Great Love. As we try and decelerate time, each experience, story and interaction is insulated and encapsulated with love, light. Every word said is attentively spoken and drawn in full technicolor into the ethers, cauterizing a 4th-Dimensional intent of Love and Everlasting Memory. And laughter! Laughter is our panacea. We go there like any trip to Camp Gallows Humor would. We joke about death — and it feels like a neat shot of whisky.

He is in such a space of awareness and compassion now. I am in awe. His emanation of grace is to be matched. The ultimate letting go of Ego. May we all be so graceful.

Today, they were very excited to take me to their cannabis shop, where they treat my stepfather like a rock star.

(Sitting around the kitchen table):

Momma: “Oooh we should take Frida to the weed shop today!!”

Me (thumbs up): “Sounds like a perfect textbook outing for the liberal, Agnostic, Buddhist-adjacent family.”

Love,
F
