Are We Staring in the Mirror of History?
“Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.” — George Santayana
I’ve been thinking a lot about history lately. It seems to me that the idea that Fascism, Nazi Germany, & Political/Societal unrest being pushed off as an archaic concept is the works of a false sense of progression. Just to put it in perspective Adolf Hitler’s rule over Germany was not even 100 years ago. It has only been 83 years to be exact which happens to be the same amount of years as one of my very alive and well Aunts.
We often cherry pick history in a sort of, “that was so long ago” or “never forget” sort of fashion. The perpetuators of mainstream ideology, which could arguably be considered the mass media, displays a very bold bias to what eras of history we keep embedded in our brains. With Donald Trump on a fast track to the White House a system of tolitarianism, and or fascism is not as far fetched an idea as it might seem. The world has seen the results of greed countless dynasties over & America’s throw the rock & hide the hand tactics have shown just the depths money & overt power will buy.
For example Monsanto, a company with very disgusting and foul involvements in our daily lives including genetically modifying our foods, having their carcinogen pesticides found in OVER 80% of feminine hygiene products, & giving infections to cows due to some of their farming products which effect milk production had been granted immunity if their products resulted in any harmful health responses under the Farmer Assurance Provision, and a revision resurfaced in 2015 with even deeper allowances to the genetically engineered products & company.
Nonetheless, I digress. Let’s also explore how vaccinations have been used over history & currently. During the Nazi regime, although much of the propaganda called for euthanasia for the mentally ill, lower class races, and non-idealistic humans in today’s time we find ourselves faced with vaccines that have been ADMITTED to increase disease such as autism. Specially so in young African-American boys. Remember that time when the Senior Scientist of the CDC admitted to omitting data about the dangerous results of the MMR vaccine? Oh, no? Maybe because the news didn’t cover it so freely, but here you go —
“My name is William Thompson. I am a Senior Scientist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where I have worked since 1998. I regret that my coauthors and I omitted statistically significant information in our 2004 article published in the journal Pediatrics. The omitted data suggested that African American males who received the MMR vaccine before age 36 months were at increased risk for autism. Decisions were made regarding which findings to report after the data were collected, and I believe that the final study protocol was not followed.” (Read More)
There was also that time of the Tuskegee Experiments that lasted into the mid 70s. Which left many African Americans sterilized & suffering health complications associated with syphilis. Let’s fast forward. Just last year California ruled it MANDATORY vaccination for every child who attends public school regardless of religious beliefs, parental wishes, or any other personal rebuttal. This law will go into effect in July 2016.
Ok, ok, ok…I know many people feel that’s ok and it’s for the better of the child, despite many of our grandparents who are alive and well never having been vaccinated to make it to their 70s, 80s, & 90s+. But whatever your stance it seems odd to force such a medical practice on children that could potentially hold adverse effects. Every person is, and responds, different.
Oh yeah, and how can I forget about Flint Michigan’s water crisis that seems to be more common than realized. Flint is not an isolated case, since Flint cities such as Jackson Mississippi, Newark & Passaic New Jersey and few more locations have discovered the toxic brown water flowing through its pipes. All this in the supposedly richest country in the world.
Where does that leave us, and what exactly am I saying? Well more so than saying anything I’m asking some questions. Why is it we’re so deeply conditioned to remember the tragedy of 9/11 while ignoring the self inflicted tragedies of 2016? Why is destructive aspects of history presented to us as a far off ideology that we have evolved well past? Is it possible that the sense of hope, patriotism, & concern for social sustainability is merely a mirage of surface details that don’t align with the underground workings of the influencers of society? Are we at the brink of a new history that mirrors the one we so easily dismiss and forget? Does it feel like we’re looking in the mirror of history?
